1999 -- India beats Sri Lanka by 157 runs at ICC World Cup in England, with Saurav Ganguly and Rahul Dravid scoring superb centuries.

1920 -- Birthday of Jack Cheetham batsman from South Africa. He skippered the Springboks in the fifties and was notable for drawing a series in Australia with a very young team. Ray Lindwall had tremendous praise for him in his book Flying Stumps.

1947 -- Birthday of  Kiwi Glenn Turner, prolific opening batsman and was the mainstay of the New Zealand team for a long time, with a high score of 259. At a personal level made news when he married an Indian Sukhinder Kaur Gill.

1977 -- Birthday of Paul Collingwood  of England, he played all forms of the game, but is notably remembered for leading England to the T20 World Championships in 2010 in the Caribbean , their first .
